Week 2 Roundup from M.B.A. League Secretary Peter Williams

Despite storm Hannah's best efforts we had almost a full program yesterday with only the Abercarn green falling foul of the weather.

M.B.A. Division 1
R.T.B. Ebbw Vale opened their account with a big win after their bye last week and are already the only team in the division with a 100% record. Chepstow recorded a home victory to go top of the table followed by Bedwas who also won at home and Pontymister Athletic who drew at Beaufort, the third draw in this league already.

M.B.A. Division 2
Caldicot sit at the top after winning at Rhymney but Croesyceiliog are also on 100% but they had a bye. Bedwellty Park are second after a convincing win over Blaina while Brynmawr recorded their first win at Newbridge. Despite the match ending in a draw, Abergavenny took the lions share of the points with three winning rinks at Cwmbran.

M.B.A. Division 3
Pontnewydd recorded an impressive win at Llanhilleth to top the table but Six Bells also recorded their second win in a tight game against St Julians. Pontypool Park Girlings opened their account with a win against Caerleon and Blaenavon bounced back with a comfortable win over Rhymney Royal.

M.B.A. Division 4
Sadly we lost the Llanwern club from this division last week and I would like to wish those guys all the best in the future and hopefully they will continue to bowl at other clubs. On the green Panteg House top the group after beating Whiteheads and Abercarn had a good win at Oakdale. I am waiting for Firbank v Belle Vue result.

M.B.A. Division 5
Ynysddu continue to impress and lead the table after their second win. Monmouth and Beechwood also recorded victories but I haven't heard from Gilwern or Garndiffaith.

G.B.L. Division 1
R.T.B. Ebbw Vale and Newbridge both recorded their second win of the season to sit one and two in this league, Pontymister Athletic also won to move into fourth, the other games were postponed.

G.B.L. Division 2
The two results I have had in this league saw Abertillery beat Pontymister Welfare and Abergavenny beat Caerleon leaving the top looking like Pontymister Welfare, Abergavenny and Abertillery one, two, three.
