Caerleon Sports Weekly Roundup - Week 10


MBA Cup Quarter Finals
St Julian's travelled down the M4 to Caldicot and came away with a comfortable 39 shot win to book their place in the semi Final. Elsewhere, there were 3 very tightly contested games. Crosskeys came way with an 8 shot away win at Blaina, Blackwood edged past Abertillery by 2 shots and RTB Ebbw Vale pipped Pontnewydd by 2 shots on an extra end after the game finished level.

MBA Division 1
Crosskeys continued their fine form with a convincing win at Rhymney Royal, again talking all 14 points on offer. Bedwas & Trethomas also secured maximum points with their home win to Newbridge, and now sit second in the table. Blackwood drop to 3rd but make it 5 wins out of 6 in the league, with an 11-3 win over Cwmbran Park. Pontymister Athletic move up 2 places into the top half of the table follwoing their 12-2 win at home to Croesyceiliog.

MBA Division 2
Blaenavon inflict the first defeat of the season on leaders RTB Ebbw Vale, as they pickup 10 points following a 13 shot win. St Julians close the gap at the top to 1 point with maximum points at Pontypool Park. Pontnewydd secure their first win of the season with a 10-4 win against Rhymney Gwent and Caldicot make it 3 wins on the bounce, with maximum points at home to Chepstow.

MBA Division 3
Leaders Machen hold onto the top position following a 12-2 away win at Beaufort, with 2nd place Blaina keeping up with them as they also secure 12 points with victory against local rivals Abertillery. Llanhilleth move up 1 place in the only change in table with a 12-2 win over Bedwellty Park and Ynysddu got back to winning ways as they secured 11 points at Abergavenny.

MBA Division 4
In the only Division with no movement following games, Panteg House remain top following a 5 shot (10-4) win at Firbank as 2nd place Beechwood close the gap with them following a 12-2 home win against New Tredegar. Oakdale picked up 10 points at home to Panteg Park and Caerleon pipped Pontyminster Welfare by the finest of margins (1 shot) to also secure 10 points.

MBA Division 5
Aberca remain top on shot difference following a 12-2 home win against Gadiffaith, with 2nd place Whiteheads securing maximum points against Belle Vue to go level on points. Gilwe move up 2 places following a narrow 2 shot win at Crickhowell. Six Bells remain mid-table as they secured 12 points at home to Pontyfelin.

GBL Division 1
No movement towards the top of the division but Bedwas and Trethomas move up 1 place to 5th following their 12-0 win at Croesyceiliog as Chepstow drop one place despite record an 8-4 win against Pontymister Athletic.

GBL Division 2
Bedwellty Park move up to 3rd as they took 10 points off Blaina. Abergavenny also move up the table with an 11 point win at Pontymister Welfare. Blackwood have the chance to move top today, as they travel to Beechwood in a re-arrange game.

GBL Division 3
Croesyceilog remain top and open up a bit of a gap as they record an 8-2 away in at Pontypool Park Girlings. Cwmbran Park rise to 3rd in the table following a 2 shot, 8-2 win at New Tredegar as Ynysddu make it back-to-back wins with a 10-0 win against Oakdale. Bailey Park travelled to Beaufort and came away with victory, taking 8 of the 10 available points.
