Caerleon Sports Weekly Roundup - Week 9


Inter Association
Newport & District move to the top of the inter association table following their 21-1 away win against South Mon whilst Rhymney & Sirhowy also make it 2 wins for 2 this year to sit second, with a 16-6 win against Easte Valley.

MBA Division 1
In the top of the table clash, Crosskeys ended Blackwood's 100 record whilst maintaing their own with a 14-0 win to open up a 21 point gap a the top, whilst Newbridge moved up 1 place to 5th with a 13-1 win over Rhymney Royal. Croesyceilog travelled to Cwmbran and came away with a 10-4 win and in the closest game of the day, Pontymister Athletic edged out Bedwas by 2 shots, picking up 11 points in the process.

MBA Division 2
Another top of the table clash as leader RTB Ebbw Vale travelled to Rhymney Gwent, with the visits recording an 8-6 victory to maintain their 100% record. St Julian's closed the gap with the top 2 following a 13-1 win over Pontnewydd whilst Caldicot also continue their push with a 10-4 win at Blaenavon to remain 4th. In the only movement in the table, Pontypool Park Girlings rise one place following an 11-3 win over Chepstow.

MBA Division 3
Machen hold onto top spot with an 11-3 win at Abertillery as 2nd place Blaina close the gap with them to just 2 points with a 12-2 win at Llanhilleth. Bedwellty Park continue to keep pace with the top 2 following a 12-2 win at Ynysddu and Abergavenny continue their climb up the table with a 12-2 win over Beaufort and now sit 4th.

MBA Division 4
Panteg House remain top with a 12-2 win over Oakdale as 2nd place Beechwood lose ground following a share of the spoils at Pontymister Welfare (7-7). New Tredegar remain 3rd and close the gap with the teams above them following maximum points against Firbank whilst Panteg Park also record 14 points with victory over Caerleon.

MBA Division 5
Aberca retu to the top spot following their 12-2 win, with last week's leaders Whiteheads also winning 10-4 against Crickhowell but dropping to 2nd. Newport Athletic continue on from last week's victory with another 12 points as they defeat Pontyfelin. Still awaiting the result of Gadiffaith and Belle Vue.

GBL Division 1
Leaders Monmouth extended their lead at the top with a 10-2 win over 2nd place Pontymister Athletic as Newbridge continue to climb in the table, with a 9-3 away win at Bedwas and now sit 3rd. Chepstow edged out Crosskeys by a single shot (10-2) and Caldicot moved off the bottom of the table with a 10-2 win against Croesyceilog.

GBL Division 2
With RTB now playing until today, Blackwood took the opportunity to move top following a full house 12 points against Beechwood. Bedwellty park started their double match weekend with a 8-4 win over Aberca and Blaina moved up 2 places with a 10-2 win over Abergavenny.

GBL Division 3
Croesyceilog record 10 points as they defeat and replace Beaufort at the top of the table. St Julian's continue to maintain their 100% record with 8 points against Ynysddu and now sit 2nd whilst Blackwood (8-2 vs New Tredegar) and Pontypool Park Girlings (8-2 vs Cwmbran) both record their wins of the season
