Carruthers Shield - MBA Round 2
Six Bells took advantage of their home draw to booked their place in the 3rd Round with a 20 shot win over Machen. Ynysddu also progressed with victory over division 3 rivals Blaina by 25 shots. Last seasons semi-finalists Blaenavon continued their campaign with a comfortable 41 shot win at home to Beechwood whilst Crosskeys also won comfortably with a big away win at Crickhowell, winning by 70 shots. Bedwas & Trethomas came away with the spoils against top flight rivals Croesyceiliog, winning by 10 shots. RTB Ebbw Vale recorded another big win, this time against Rhymney Gwent, who unfortunately had to play one short, winning by 63.5 shots. A solid performance by Blackwood at home secured them a 43 shot win over Pontypool Park Girlings and a 3rd round spot next week. Pontymister Welfare overcame Bedwellty Park with a 16 shot win, despite the victors being a division below them in the leagues. A trip down the M4 for Cwmbran Park saw them overcome Caldicot whilst Pontymister Athletic proved too strong for Caerleon as they came away with a 30 shot victory. Newbridge also secured a 30 shot win over Abertillery to book their 3rd round spot. Beaufort overcame Llanhilleth for the 2nd time this season, this time coming away with a 20 shot win. In the closest encounter of the day, St Julians beat Chepstow by 9 shots and Gadiffaith also moved into the next round due to Pontyfelin withdrawing earlier in the week.
MBA Division 5
In the only match across the MBA leagues this week, Whiteheads continued their winning start to the season with a big 14-0 win away to Pontyfelin.
GBL Division 1
With a number of matches re-arranged due to clubs playing in the WBA, the only surivior was Pontymister Athletic against Caldicot, with the home team taking full advantage and coming away with a maximum 12 points.
GBL Division 2
Blackwood travelled to Abergavenny as they reversed the scheduled fixture due to WBA involvement at home and came away with a full 12 points as they maintain their 100% record. RTB Ebbw Vale continue to hold top spot by shot difference, following their maximum points win at Whiteheads. Bedwellty Park secured their first win of the season with 12 points at Beechwood.
GBL Division 3
In the 1st league game of the season for the GBL 2 Rink format, Bailey Park opened their campaign with a narrow 4 shot win against Croesyceiliog, coming away with 8 points in the process.
