Caerleon Sports Round up - 12th June

The few outstanding 2nd round ties were played this week and there was an exciting win for Ynysddu by one shot over Blackwood. Bedwas beat Crosskeys and Abertillery won at Chepstow to complete the third round draw.
Inter Association
West Mon kicked off their season with a one shot win at Rhymney & Sirhowy taking 13 points to 9. Easte Valley continue to set the pace though with their second victory by 16-6 at Newport.
Senior County Championship
The seniors continued their good start to the season beating Mid Wales at Panteg House by 132 - 87. Todays championship game against the same opponents at Beaufort has been postponed.
Carruthers Shield
Blackwood had a very good 2 shot victory against Ely Valley and now face Tenby who beat Bedwas on their own green by 20. Beaufort beat Havelock Park and will now travel to Loughor in the next round. New Tredegar gave a good account of themselves against Penylan but eventually went down by ten. Penylan now face holders RTB who beat fellow MBA side Rhymney Royal. Pontymister Athletic also had a fine win in Swansea and now face Ogmore Vale. Blaenavon are through after Cardigan had to withdraw from the game and will now go to Pontrhydyfen or Newtown in the next round. Cwmbran won another nail biter by one shot at Kidwelly and are now home to the winners of the Llantrisant v Aberystwyth game. Croesyceiliog gave a good account of themselves before losing by ten to Dinas Powys.
Many MBA games were postponed due to the Carruthers but in this division Crosskeys moved up to second after a 10 - 4 win over Chepstow.
Pontnewydd March on with their sixth consecutive win in the division by beating Caldicot 12 - 2. Abergavenny beat Abertillery 12 - 2 and Newbridge beat Pontypool 10 - 4.
With Rhymney Royal playing in the Welsh, Bedwellty took advantage and moved to the top after a 12 - 2 win at Blaina, after a slow start in the league Llanhilleth finally got a win 12 - 2 at Six Bells.
Whiteheads remain top after an exciting 83 all draw at Panteg Park taking 6 points to 8. Pontymister Welfare moved up to second despite going down 10 - 4 at Oakdale.
Beechwood kicked off with a big 14-0 win over Pontyfelin and now sit second to Newport who won 10-4 at Gilwe.
Croesyceiliog re tu to the top after a 8-4 win at Aberca and Newbridge are up to third after a 11-1 victory at Pontymister Welfare.
The only result I have had sees Bedwellty move into second after beating Blackwood 10-2.
2 points at home to Crosskeys was enough to take Bailey Park to the top but the 5 points collected by Crosskeys keeps them in close contact and second place.
