Caerleon Sports Weekly Round up - Week 7


INTER ASSOCIATION

Friday evening saw the inter association continue as Newport & District moved top with their 2nd win of the season following a 20-2 win over Rhymney & Sirhowy. Easte Valley move into 2nd place following their first win, also collecting 20 points with victory over East Mon. In the final game of the evening, West Mon. dug deep in the final ends of the game to snatch victory from South Mon to capture their first win of the season with an 18-4 win.
 
Into the weekend and with the weather wreaked havoc across the county, more than half of scheduled matches for the weekend had to be postponed, with every division in the league affected.
 

MBA DIVISION 1

Croesyceiliog moved up to 4th place following a 12-2 win over Blackwood whilst St. Julians secured their first win of the season with a 10-4 win over Pontymister Athletic.
 

MBA Division 2

Caldicot rose to 2nd place in the division as they ended RTB Ebbw Vale's 100% record, with a narrow 8-6 win. In an even tighter match at Newbridge, a final end count for Bedwellty Park was enough to see them secure a 2 shot, 12-2 win, moving them off the bottom of the table.
 

MBA Division 3

With only 1 game played due to the weather, Llanhilleth took 13 of the 14 points on offer, as they won at home to Beechwood.
 

MBA Division 4

Another Division with 2 games postponed as Newport Athletic took the opportunity to move up into 2nd place with a narrow 5 shot (10-4) win at Machen, whilst Panteg Park secured their first win of the season with victory at home to Abergavenny.
 

MBA Division 5

Firbank continued their winning start to the season with a tightly fought game at Whiteheads, coming away with 10 points in a tense 2 shot win. Elsewhere P.I.L.C.S. and Belle was the only other game in the division to survive the weather, with the home side coming away with a 12-2 win to rise to 4th in the table.
 

3 Rink GBL - Division 1

Croesyceiliog maintained their 100% start to the season and moved to the top with a 10-2 win at Monmouth as all other matches fell foul of the weather.
 

3 Rink GBL - Division 2

There was similar disruption in the 2nd division with the sole surviving game being played at Abergavenny, where the hosts overcoming Bedwas 9-3 to record their first win of the season.
 

2 Rink GBL - Division 1

Bailey Park opened up a 16 point lead at the top of the 2 rink GBL as they continue their impressive start to the season with a commanding 10-0 win over Beaufort whilst Croesyceiliog rose to 2nd in the table as they collected an 8-2 win at Caldicot. On Sunday New Tredegar travelled to Caldicot and edge out their hosts by a single shot to win 8-2 and rise to 4th in the standings.
 

2 Rink GBL - Division 2

Friday Evening saw a close encounter between Beechwood and Oakdale go the way of the hosts as they won 10-0 to move into 3rd place. Into Saturday and Panteg Park made it 6 wins from 6 on the Saturday as they won at home to Bedwellty Park to open up a 20 point lead at the top. Pontymister Welfare will be looking to close that gap with their games in hand over the coming weeks as they continue their 100% record with a narrow 2 shot, 8-2 win at Bedwellty Park on the Sunday.
